Traffic and Transportation
Successes
I knew when I took office that reducing traffic congestion would be our most difficult challenge. We love our cars and our county was built for them.
I am proud to report, however, that we are moving in a new direction. Traffic mitigation projects are underway and our new multimodal transportation plan is being implemented.
Moved six of our county traffic mitigation projects into the state’s top ten priorities by incentivizing with county funds and working effectively with state leadership
Signed agreement with State Highways to move forward on improvements at failed intersections on Route 3, Ritchie Highway, and Route 214
Bike and pedestrian trail network to allow not only recreation but also effective transportation well underway
Design underway for new Parole Transit Center
Working closely with our Congressional Delegation to secure federal infrastructure funding for trails, roads, bridges, and electric buses
Created Transit Oriented Development Plan with Greater Washington Partnership for Cromwell Station, Odenton MARC Station, and Laurel
Structured parking for Odenton MARC station in design
Plans
In my second term we will finish the trail network, build the traffic mitigation improvements, and create the transit system that actually reduces miles driven by cars on our roads.
