The Anne Arundel County Gun Violence Prevention Task Force will announce preliminary recommendations for preventing gun violence Thursday with a focus on public health, said the chair of the task force. Task force co-chairman Bishop Charles Carroll and other members will present their preliminary plan and recommendations to the public at 6 p.m. on Thursday night at Anne Arundel Medical Center’s Belcher Pavilion — a condition of the task force’s creation by County Executive Steuart Pittman. The group was tasked with researching gun violence and actionable ways to prevent it in an April 5, 2019, executive order that created the task force. Pittman set a mid-December deadline for summarizing progress, initial findings and recommendations and a final report due May 1, 2020.
